OMGWTFBBQ Sauce Recipe!

Thought I'd share my AWESOME BBQ sauce recipe! It came from one of our city attorneys. This is the best BBQ sauce I have ever made, and I am from eastern NC so that is saying a lot!

South Carolina Style BBQ Sauce

1 cup prepared yellow mustard
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon liquid smoke (hickory flavoring)

Mix everything except soy, butter, and smoke. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 more minutes. The vinegar taste may be very strong until it's completely cooled. Refrigerating overnight is best and allows flavors to blend. Add a few drops of Louisiana hot sauce at the end if additional heat is desired.

That's it!

I like to use this with pulled pork. Just buy a cheap bonesless pork shoulder (aka "picnic" shoulder) and cook it on high in a crock pot for about 4.5 hours. Then pull it into strings of pork noms and toss into a ziploc bag with the sauce and shake. Voila. Super quick and easy BBQ for DAYS.
See, as a native of south carolina I've listened to the bbq debate of tennessee, texas, kentucky, etc. We've got something special in our mustard vinegar mix that is truly outside the norm. I'm glad you liked it. :-)

1 1/2 tablespoon crushed chili peppers
3 buds fresh garlic

1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon liquid smoke (hickory flavoring)

Mix everything except soy, butter, and smoke. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 more minutes. The vinegar taste may be very strong until it's completely cooled.
